Padel at Edgbaston Priory Club

Fast, fun and social. The sport that’s sweeping the world has landed at Edgbaston Priory Club.

A mash-up of tennis and squash, padel has taken the world by storm. You can begin playing padel at any age and ability. It’s as fun as it is addictive. With three fantastic outside padel courts, this is the perfect opportunity to start playing.

Benefits of Padel Tennis

Padel is probably best described as a mash up of tennis and squash that’s fun, easy to learn and extremely sociable.

It’s usually played in doubles on an enclosed court surrounded by walls of glass and metallic mesh. The court is one third of the size of a tennis court.  It is played with a short, stringless racquet and a low compression tennis ball. The serve in Padel is underarm and balls can be played off the walls in a similar way as in squash.

The scoring and rules are very similar to tennis but the ball can bounce off the back and side walls (allowing for longer rallies) but can only hit the turf once before being returned. Points are scored when the ball does bounce twice in the competitors’ field.
